On Thursday morning, May 19, 2016, The Bridge Home School Group enjoyed an engaging presentation by local Walpole author James Skofield. Writing children's stories for over 35 years, Jim colorfully explained the process of book making, from manuscripts and multiple drafts to book jackets. Aside from his genuine reception of all questions, he also participated in story-time, as requested, reading his own books. A couple were from the past, but the group was also treated to one of his newer books entitled Bird and Bear. This engaging story gently navigates the circle of life in a thoughtful and sensitive way. There were even a few tears to be had. In concluding this special visit, a question was posed from the audience about tips for budding writers. His response was simple, suggesting, 'Write! No matter how long or how short, write consistently. Even when you don't think you have something to write about, find anything.' His passion was contagious and his approachable personality was endearing.
Thank you Jim!
